The 20-pet cap applies only to newly started accounts.
Member-to-member sales of pets and items have ALSO been restored, though I am still looking into the specifics...but this news was too good to wait.

"I just deployed major changes, most notably user-to-user sales of FooMart items (for any price) and user-to-user pet sales (for any FD price above a minimum), 1-year CF membership packages, and the re-institution of free memberships.
I’ve updated the FAQs to reflect the changes. There’s a nifty chart describing the membership features for all three packages (free, CF, and CF+) at http://www.foopets.com/faqs#club (see above)
You’ll also find that chart at http://www.foopets.com/club, where you can upgrade/downgrade easily.
Legacy free members who were kicked-out in the Foopocalypse of April 2011 should be able to log in and re-unite with their pets, inventory items, and scenes. (color and italics mine)

And the very BEST news - the bounty on thrown-away pets has been abolished (to much crying by those who invested in CF+ for the free LLs and were caught with their britches down...)
So far the ONLY downside I see is that it requires a paid account to direct-sell pets and items - those who wish to ought to be able to afford at least a $5 month membership...and this really was necessary to appease those who have been paying these long last three years.

I am just biting my tongue trying to keep from posting on Foo Forums about all the puppy mill complaints. "I have 105 pets weaning " Wah. I always thought the free LL's and purchasing of litters was disgraceful and goes against every responsible pets owner and rescuers basic instincts. So I am glad that they were cut off. I just wish they had given warning to them so more pets will not be dumped.

DeleteThe natives are restless in Fooville tonight. I was happy to see some of the changes, but to not allow us to sell directly back to the mart and make messaging private??? Don't understand those two changes at all. Maybe I missed something in the forums. Needless to say I'm upset about those changes. Seems like a nightmare right now, maybe tomorrow will look better. At this time the only thing that will sooth my savage beast is to see open fostering. A big WELCOME BACK (((BIG BIG HUGS))) to singingbadger and Born2CanaanCatHaven.
ReplyDeleteIt's a new day and things have somewhat settled down. We now have the ability to sell back to the mart (at least for now). Now that I'm not blinded by frustration, I have taken a better look at the changes and really like them, especially the new subscription plans. This is the Foo I knew and loved when I joined in 2010 and I look forward to more great things happening in the future. Thanks for sticking in there to help get the improved Foo, you have done a great job. Also a big thank you for posting in the forums your wisdom on the many 'hot' item topics.
Deletethere is bound to be a lot of fine-tuning going on over the next month or so (at least) - the good news is Ron is trying to be as responsive as possible, as far as I can see, and also explaining WHY he originally eliminated certain things.
DeleteWow!! well i've not been on foo since being shut out back in April 2011 and today I logged back on for the first time since then and I Feel like I'm dreaming. It's really interesting all that is happening on foo lately. I did notice that all the fds I'd got from selling off most my pets before April 2011 has been reset to 15 fd. I've been so gone so long I could complain about that but i won't for just being back is awesome! their seems to be a few bugs but it does seem Dr Ron is actually trying to works these things out now and it's so very refreshing to feel new life coming back to Foo and at this rate fooland may very well be like it use to be.
ReplyDeleteI am loving it. I have let everyone I knew know that Fooville is once again a great place to play and visit. Tension is kind of high right now, but this will settle down as we all adjust to some of the changes. It has been a very long time since good news was posted here and I am truly appreciative of this GREAT site - been checking it daily for years and it is so nice to see everyone excited again.

DeleteUpon further examination I see the new policy towards money is reason I'd lost all the most my fds and all my foogems. It kind of sucks all the fds I had back in 2011 was from selling most my pets to friends with the plan that if I ever got back on I would buy them back. now with those fds gone I can't. the dumbest thing though was taking all the foogems away. Luckily I had already stocked up on food and such before the freeze out in 2011. otherwise right now I'd be screwed for food money. anyways even though I complain about this I do still feel glad that things for the most part are improving and that Foo has free option again. That's awesome and I beleive things will keep on Improving.
DeleteI reopened one account to sell the litter licenses I had never used and they will not take them back nor can you sell them to other players. So I am a bit upset about that. I will never breed the pets in the shelters. And most of my inventory would get gems which I do not need to run the shelter as a free account. I have enough of them to feed for a long long time.

DeleteHas anyone figured out how the free accts (the old ones reactivated) that have limited FDs and FGs (and lots of pets) can earn both. I had hoped I could send both from the main acct, but alas that is not the case. Am I overlooking something?
ReplyDeleteIt appears the only way to get fds on a free account is to buy them. the only other thing i can see is if you're good at one of the arcade games you could bet fd and win...that's only if you're really good otherwise only pay. as for foogems it appears just have to earn them caring for pets and arcade games. it appears the free accounts can't give or recieve gifts either. I was just on the forums and frankly I'm very annoyed by the us and them talk that some foo elitists are taking to us returning from back in time. Anyways it appears you can't gift, sell or buy from others or other accounts unless you're Club Foo.
Deletefrom what I understand, the unsubscribed accounts will have member-to-member sales access, it just needs to be coded...things should improve. There may also be some compensation for lost assets.
DeleteThanks for the info Anonymous. I had pretty much figured that out, but was hoping for a loop hole of sorts. I am just glad to have the free membership again, and I believe all the pitfalls will even out in a week or so. Thanks again.

I have a question that I was hesitant to put in the FooForum... how are people deciding their prices for user to user sales? I've seen prices that varied by hundreds of dollars for the same item. Is it just whatever the market will allow or is there some kind of rhyme or reason to it beyond what's rare/unavailable and what isn't? Thank you for any insight you can throw my way. :)
ReplyDeleteI Really can't answer. I'm still a free member and the game still doesn't allow me to sell anything. It's nice to be back but things are still not exactly as they use to be. and it seems the forums has a lot of us vs them when it comes to "Free Members" as to club foo members and frankly it's really annoying because this wouldn't be going on if we'd not ever been shut out it the first place from rivet. but oh well. whatever
DeleteI can relate to your comments. It seems it is what the market will bear, but I can't see charging such outrages prices. It is so quiet on this post. I was hoping for more insight and comments. So good to see old friends return, and I am enjoying making new friends.

Even with a cap, prices always have varied widely...one site I'm on lets you search user sales by item and it ROCKS - and also keeps people who are serious about selling an item from charging foolishly high prices. Inflated prices will fix themselves provided people don't get overeager and pay them in spite of their outrageousness.

DeleteI will be so happy when he finally releases this "mystery pet". Not that I am excited about it and will be getting one, but because I am tired of reading about. Announcing open fostering again would make me ecstatic. You are right about it being a distractions for the very same ones that were beating the dead horse concerning "free" and "paid" members. I would hope he is still working on the basic issues that still remain.
DeleteI love the idea of a new pet, but I agree it is mainly a distraction - buying time so to speak - I truly hope he opens up U2U sales and fostering. Not much of a game if you cannot be active with others.
