WE'RE BAAA-AACK...

6/26/11...we just got the horrible news that MillicentToo, one of our finest FooCitizens, has passed away - everyone, remember her and all her wonderful works in your thoughts and prayers...

6/20/11...
well, the Pet Sams are back on a 3-day schedule - and we realise why : this little "member-friendly" innovation was but one of the steps on the long and secretive road to pay-to-play.

6/16/11...
the Sams have resurfaced - back on a 5 rather than 3 day schedule. we wonder if this heralds a return to taking pets after 3 visits...

6/6/11...
it seems the Pet Sams are once again MIA...or at least back to an every-5-day schedule. no big surprise there - hopefully it's not a sign of worse things to come.

6/3/11...
after the hiatus of dealing with the site changes (and learning more-or-less accidentally that "new" posts, rather than the daisy-chaining and manual archiving we have been doing up until now, are the way subscribers are notified that somethin' is happ'nin'), the Foop is up and running again, and will be followed by the rebirth of WordPress Lifeboat shortly once some research is concluded. (ADD - OperationLifeboat is indeed back up - and preparing to set sail once again)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6/3/11...
Primus - we are in the process of reviewing and analysing the interview Jesse Janasov (or at least someone speaking in his name) granted FooSpyGlass...but we do have one initial reaction to the new Rivet FaceBook offering, Pay (oops)...er, PlayPet Park* - after restructuring FooPets to eliminate the bulk of member interaction (Fashion Shows, RolePlay, item and pet sales, and so on), we find it fascinating that their latest effort forces member to interact in order to progress...of course, all transactions are still strictly with the site...

(* - we stand corrected, it's "Pet Tales", probably because someone else already has "PetPet Park" - but the Freudian slip - and it was originally an accident - was too good to get rid of)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Secundus - we were trolling Corie's "reaction" thread a while ago (with no particular plans to comment, as we had already said our piece via our personal - which may have colored our perspective), and noticed a pitched battle going on between the established factions...and totally obscuring any focus on the actual purpose and content of the thread, intentionally or otherwise.

this is hardly the first time this has happened - and often the "burying" is from even more frivolous posting than the in-thread debates. while we detest and deplore management's tendency to put up annoucements without the Comments enabled, we are beginning to see why...and to actually sympathize.

so - we propose a solution...with the exception of the founder of the thread, and of course management and Mods (whose input ought to be constructive - or at least edifying, one way or another) - Forum thread posts should be limited to one to a customer.

ONE
shot at the soapbox per thread. ONE chance to state your case, without the option for continuous rebuttal every time someone else comments, on your point or anyone else's. if nothing else, this may make people think a bit more carefully about not only what, but when they post (it will be interesting to watch certain folks jockeying to get in the last word...), and hopefully prevent thoughtful and/or useful posts from being lost in the crossfire.

with the elimination of roleplay (or at least its transfer to message boards for the truly determined), there really isn't any need for more than one post per account...and those who wish to continue the issue with one another can take it to their own profiles if they feel they must.

(although i will make the observation - as one of those chided for it in the past - if comments turn up from different accounts belonging to the same user...sorry, Charlie - now that ClubFoo subscription is obligatory... as they have to PAY separately, they get their SAY separately.)

  1. MIllicentToo was one of the best players in Foo, and a great rescuer. It is a shock to us all to lose her.

And you, dear lady, we would be so lost without you and your efforts on our behalf.

  3. Firstly may I start by saying your commitment and dedication to Foo has been marvelous. I feel honored to have you among my friends.
The site has undergone so many changed since I joined that I can hardly recognize Foo anymore. If it were not for the love of my dear pets and a few dear friends I would be gone now...I used to sped 12 or so hours a day on Foo, now I may spend 30 mins or so. I miss so many of my friends so much, as I am sure we all do. The worse thing I think for me is the lack of input from the Admins.
I think the problem is communication really.

I have quietly read a lot of the recent forum posts. I rarely post on public forums.
The way I see it, people are assuming the worse because they know no different… we are all having to pay now; we have no choice…in return I think the majority of us who are loyal enough to still be on Foo need and want reassurance that our Admins have the future of FooPets in mind and intend to keep this site well run, well stocked with new pets and new ideas and are not going to simply give up and walk away on us once enough money is made.

As for Pet Tales…it is so different to Foo Pets that I think it would be a mistake to assume we would all delight in playing it if this site closed…I don’t think I could dedicate myself to another site and start all over again …too much love and effort lost and I would miss my dear virtual pets on here too much!

Basically I think they have changed Foo too much too quickly. I think they are probably losing money hand over fist...and either they will start upgrading it again when it makes profit, or they will close it...probably with little or no warning. Either way, it is becoming a very kiddie-orientated site, nothing but my pets holds my interest on there any more! There is little or no resemblance to the virtual pet site it was.
Its a shame....Foo was a unique pet lovers site.....it is fast becoming just another kiddie game
