As promised, we're back with a new post - just for fun this time, but there WILL be a serious post to follow shortly. Open to suggestions as to what is the most important issue to address here and now...as far as I have seen, the basic functioning of the site is now decently reliable, so what do you all see the next priority?

Now for the giggles " FUN FOOP SPAM!

"Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Moving Onward - and Hopefully UPward.":

I'm not sure exactly why but this blog is loading extremely slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a problem on my end? I'll check back later and
see if the problem still exists.
Also visit my web-site - blood pressure
(aside from hitting a VERY dusty post - most of them do - linking frustration with an ad for blood pressure struck me as sincerely creative...)

"Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Who's On First, What's On Second, I Don't Know's O...":

Hellο іt's me, I am also visiting this website daily, this web page is actually good and the users are genuinely sharing pleasant thoughts.

Feel free to surf to my homepage ... bad credit loans"
(if they were actually "visiting daily",  I rather doubt they would have been a year out of date...but I'm glad to hear we're pleasant...)

"Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Nitties Getting Gritty?":

This is a common misconception which will be resolved only
with firsthand experience. If you encourage your visitors to write their original reviews about your products instead of
coping reviews from competitive websites to show you
have circulation and satisfied customers, your website is
more likely to earn higher ranking in the major search engines."
(this one truly left me scratching my head...it goes on MUCH longer and in great detail - and might have been a very useful data resource had they actually LOOKED at the Foop first...)

"Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Who's On First, What's On Second, I Don't Know's O...":

(relatively innocent...but I want to know who squealed to stumbleupon, lol)

"Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Moving Onward - and Hopefully UPward.":

Greetings! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could
locate a captcha plugin for my comment form? I'm using the same blog platform as yours and I'm having
trouble finding one? Thanks a lot!

Here is my web blog: search engine optimisation"
(YOU'RE asking ME? I'm not even sure what "captcha" IS...)

...and this one, symptomatic of most...
"Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Nitties Getting Gritty?":

Howdy I am so excited I found your blog page, I really found you by
mistake, while I was researching on Bing for something else, Anyhow I am here now and would
just like to say kudos for a remarkable post and a all round
exciting blog (I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time to look over
it all at the moment but I have book-marked it and also added in your RSS feeds,
so when I have time I will be back to read a great deal more,
Please do keep up the awesome jo.

Feel free to surf to my site :: airplane flying games"
(Why would they be interested in the Foop? Why would WE be interested in airplanes/car reviews/self improvement gimmicks/paycheck loans/fill in the blank? And who the heck is "Jo"?)

Hopefully now that I've stopped collecting these (and will be roundfiling the ones I did), my spam filter will go back to normal and we won't get any more strays.

It's been about a year now since Ron and Co. officially took back the site. Most of the "cleanup" work appears to be done - which I'm sure was a massive undertaking - but it's time now to look to the future. A site which does not grow, dies. So does a site that grows too fast, or in the wrong directions, a tendency that led to problems here in the past.

Where SHOULD FooPets go from here?

    1. I like the idea in general - can you expand on it a little? Types of suspensions, and so on? plus by definition a suspended account DOES get reinstated eventually, only banning are permanent and even those have been reversed from time to time.

  2. That sounds good to me, require certain things from those people, sign a contract, whatever and give people fresh starts.

    1. it would also be nice to bring back the pet not founds and open the mart up

    2. The Mart is closed again? Pets Not Found break my heart as well, but they are caused by several things, it could be tough, codewise. We'd have to concentrate on one type at a time (deleted/banned accounts, for example). What I'd like to see is open fostering reinstated - no more "friends only" - if people want that they can use their own settings.

Better customer service, as in get Miss Know It All the heck out of it. Fine, let her be Admin, but she has 0 skills when it comes to finesse or being politic.

And did anyone else notice that the Spring News is just a repeat of the November News? The only new thing is them taking on PL as an employee which, btw I am grateful for. Hopefully she'll at least make SOME attempt at looking at copyright unlike someone else I know. But seriously, NOTHING has happened since November?

    1. We haven't really had any "new" news since shortly after Ron's return...I looked at the thread (and threw in my two cents worth) - do collectors-for-profit really think that potential purchasers need a flashing red sign to know what's valuable? (snort) Yet another example of what happens when making money becomes the driving force of the site.

      Delete
    2. I do believe that the flashing rare signs is viewed as many now as the "elite" type of collectibles, therefore worth more. I tend to collect the ones with the rare symbols that I *don't* like because they tend to have a greater impact if I am using them in offer for an older rare or a pet. So yeah, the way things are set up now, they are more highly sought after.

Also I feel that taking that into account, as many people do the same thing, buying items they may not like to trade for things they seek, that at the very least those should be offered to be refunded. The people that actually like them will then get a shot to buy back one that gets put back in the shop, the collector gets there money back, and everyone's happy. It is such a little thing really, I know, but it could have been so easily sorted to make many people happy. Instead they want us to sell back to the mart and take a 25% loss. I feel like that's bad business. I too am happy that PL has been put in charge of the mart, so far I think she's doing a stellar job. More has come out that is not so amateur and flawed since she's been at the helm.

  6. Thanks for the chuckles

    As regards the question:

    Allow fostering of non-friend accounts

Bring back into view the pets on suspended or banned accounts -- all that they need to do with the banned ones is remove any offensive material that may be on them; the pets never did anyone any harm, why should they be forever hidden?

Sorry for my absence these past few months, Real life has been extremely heavy and so I am only hanging on to my online friends via the tips of my toenails :D Seriously I cannot afford the time these days, I need to spend what remains of it with my soulmate. If/when I pull out of this period, then is the time that I can spend joyously with my foo pals.

Apologies also for not logging in to post, my login details are on my home computer.

I hope 2013 is shaping up well for you all.

    1. I love the fostering idea (which has been brought up so much).

Age forums. Please for the love of god, age forums.

I also wish we could at least view banned accounts. Deleted accounts can be brought back. As long as they block the IP or label that account as "dead", then I think it could be easily accomplished. I miss some of the pets I've given to friends who were banned for the last glitch, and I'd love to be able to see and possibly care for those missed friends' pets again.

  8. I have a suspended account which has been since August. I'd just like to know when eventually is for my indefinite suspension to be removed. To me it seems like never. I'd be willing to just keep my pets even & start over. I miss foo SOO much, my friends, etc... I want to come back so bad!

  9. Can we get a definitive answer about the indef suspended accounts. How long the suspension is-say a year?

    1. I had Born2CanaanCatHaven (my main shelter account) and FooBA4U (the source of the Foop) indefinitely suspended for running a rescue operation that was too close to a raffle...and was frequented by politically-unsafe members, a number of whom were also suspended for a week or less, which no doubt delighted the then powers-that-be. They were held in lockdown for several months, during which time I was in daily dialogs with Kate (the then-Traci), and ultimately when it became clear all they were doing was creating a martyr for the cause they were released.

I thought I held the standing record, lol - how long have you been locked out, and what was the justification?

  14. I am posting this so no one misses it. http://www.foopets.com/mart?pid=5295 This is a 1 fg item that is called the ClubFoo High Rock Hideaway. The description is:

"This rustic log cabin is the perfect hideaway for a dream vacation with your Foopets. This is a limited edition release that will only be available through the month of May with a limit one per account. This special release is to say thank you for being a ClubFoo member!"

Bringing back CF monthly gifts has been something we've been asking for for awhile now. I am sure that had to be PL's input, so I think this is a big step in the right direction. I feel like they're wasting part of PL's talents in the mart though. To be perfectly honest, she is, I feel, the best customer service person that they have currently. (I have no beef with the other Fa's, but they were also not in Support, so I cannot speak about their abilities). However, when I had an issue, I was much happier to deal with PL. She was always calm, professional, and kind. She never made me feel like I was doing something wrong by asking questions or pointing out something I had noticed.

If only they could clone PL lol! One for the mart and one for customer service hehe.

    1. I agree with you Azkani. It is to bad they will not let her train others. Her approach should be the standard. There used to be some really fine volunteers but they were all driven away. They were older and much more inclined to know what good customer service is all about. But they did not take guff from anyone. They were for the most part even handed. PL has always been fair and honest and done what she said she would do. And she has never taken sides or ignored a request, at least not to me or to anyone I know that had need of her assistance. And she is compassionate and caring as well.

One thing I wonder. Why don't they offer a membership to some of the first a's that have left in exchange for some monitoring and hands on customer service. They sure need it. And I know some of them would like to do it again. Rivet really screwed the pooch when it came to mistreating those volunteers that spent hours and hours keeping the peace on forums and guiding members to the right spot for help or answers. Maybe then they would have time to do tech work and get things farther along. Just a thought.

  16. Did anyone see the Fa charging 3,000FDs for the most recent unicorns? How is that fair? While the players get yelled at for asking for too much, but an Ambassador who has connections can get both A and B releases and sell them at such a high profit. What poor form.

  22. All right, enough fooling around, I guess it's time to get political again...

a while back I had the idea of starting a Husker Du (Do You Remember) thread on some Forum or other, detailing some of the things that have been lost, what the justifications were at the time, and why they either no longer apply or ways to do them that avoid whatever problems - some of them legitimate - they presented when they were shut down.

too many of the current active members have no idea what they are missing, and the only way to get anywhere is to have a mass rallying much as we did (admittedly without much success) for the Beta controversy. I also plan to do a little survey on member composition - percentages of active, dormant, and MNF for various sampling periods from early Foo to present. ought to be...enlightening.

  26. So nothing here about the loss of TrustE validation?

Click on the link for TrustE, Foopets is no longer certified due to *someone* reporting them and sending mass SS's of kids behaving badly, suicide posts, talk about adult topics, etc. I know the person who sent all these. She was intent on ruining FPs for some slight or another. Don't get in her way lol. But apparently they listened to her and removed their certification. Which means that FPs is violating trademark by keeping the logo. Many people have asked and no one is getting any answers.

Since the site has many times violated copyright, including putting an image in FM that is from another pet site, I think Traci needs to come clean and start working to make sure the site doesn't get shut down. But nothing doing, they will only say they're "working on it". I'd like to know a bit more than that considering the fact that I'm paying for multiple accounts and if they truly don't care to violate TM or copyright, they will eventually get shut down. I'd prefer to save some money.

    More here:http://www.foopets.com/topics/show/2482541?forum_id=28&post_count=15

Here's another thing, you know it's almost been a year since Ron posted anything? Has he left FPs in the hands of Traci? If so we r so screwed.

    1. Honsetly at this point who cares if foopets gets shutdown over this.
i say this not because i don't like foopets but because the management at foopets whether it's been under rivet or dr Ron or Traci it doesn't matter because they all act as if they don't give a flying leap about any of their customers. they simply don't care so at this point i don't care either. and from the look of the lack of posts or anything here at one swell foop doesn't seem to car anymore either.

  27. sorry about the hiatus, folks - this is my crazy-time, workwise, and I will be more active again soon...plus for some reason my email no longer gets post notices, so I don't always know what's going on.

No, I haven't heard from Ron - publicly or privately - in quite a while.

I took a spin through the Forums yesterday and saw (among other things) something about the TrustE certification : I will be doing more research. As I have held all along that under-13's need their own version of the site designed for them and their very different needs, my feelings on the loss are mixed, but the site playing fast and loose with permissions of any kind, whether certifications or copyrights, is not a good sign...or, sadly, a surprising one.
The TrustE board takes their responsibilities seriously, as no doubt they should - and the trend toward trying to make this a one-size-fits-all site has never been notably successful. However, seeing it this happen for petty personal reasons that have nothing to do with the good of the site or ANY segment of it membership is discouraging.

Just did some prowling...supposedly the problem with TrustE has been resolved - though there is no info on how (http://www.foopets.com/topics/show/2485361?forum_id=6&page=1#posts-58989476) and the site is once more in good standing. Where does the logo come up? it's not on the Parents page - though a lot of other technically inaccurate statements are, lol.
